5th Grade Discovery Room Update (September)

Molly Swartz assisting the students with the adult phase of the life cycle.

Fifth grade students in Ms. Carpenter’s class were excited to start Discovery Room again this year and were able to remember many of last year’s topics, such as weather, data from Eyak Lake, turbidity, salmon life cycles, photosynthesis and glaciers. In September the students reviewed the tools that were used for lake monitoring last year and learned some new ones for use in ocean monitoring. They learned how to measure temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, nitrate, phosphate, iron and ammonia. They’re excited for our field trip to the Science Center in October where they’ll be able to put their skills to the test.
