Science Center welcomes new education coordinator

Last week marked the arrival of Cara Goodwin, our new education coordinator. She drove up from Santa Fe where she had been working for Audubon New Mexico as their Education Manager. She taught and ran school programming, summer camps, and collaborated with statewide partners on a variety of projects. She is excited to live in a place where there is more rain, and boy can we deliver on that request!

Cara has a BA in Science with a concentration in Environmental Science from Marylhurst University. She has a diverse background in environmental education, including program design and implementation for pre-kindergarten students through adults, nature center management, store management, volunteer training and more.

In the past, Cara taught at the Los Angeles County Outdoor Science School, a 5th and 6th grade residential program in both Malibu and Wrightwood. She has also lived and worked in Portland, Oregon and the Bay area.  Cara is looking forward to learning all about the wildlife and ecosystems in Cordova.
