Rich is a licensed PE Professional Engineer and Grandfather of 5 young lads with 44 years of varied engineering and construction experience. He served as a Combat Engineer Officer with Army Engineer troop units in Germany and the USA then worked as a consulting environmental & civil engineer in private practice from Wyoming to the Northeast to Afghanistan in design and Resident Engineering of remediation projects (landfills, dredging, chemical sites), horizontal construction (roads, rock blasting, quarries), and facilities (military garrisons, missile defense sites, Cordova Centers). Rich and family dragged a trailer up the old gravel Alcan in 1962, rode out the earthquake of 27 March 1964, trained at Fort Wainwright in 1975, and returned to Fort Greely in 2005 before moving to Cordova as the City Engineer in 2014. He is grateful to be able to live and work near salmon, glaciers, clean waters, quiet forests, the decent folks of Cordova, and the mighty Copper River valley.
