Astrid Olsen is a Vermonter who is thrilled to be joining the PWSSC this summer and to be living in Alaska for the first time. She’s a nature and outdoor enthusiast and loves to spend free time hiking, camping, skiing, and jumping into cold water. Astrid is a rising sophomore at Dartmouth College, where she intends to major in ecology. She’s an intern in a soil science lab at college, and her previous academic experience has centered primarily on terrestrial ecology, so she is excited for an introduction to marine ecology this summer. She spent last summer as an AmeriCorps youth nature camp educator at the Middlebury Area Land Trust in Vermont, and is passionate about sharing her enthusiasm and love for the outdoors with the next generation. She’s looking forward this summer to learning to conduct her own research and field work, and getting to know the Cordova landscape and the PWSSC team.
