Three decades of climate insight
April 22: On this day in 1989, legal papers for the creation of the Prince William Sound Science Center were filed.
The City of Cordova offered us a lease on an icehouse and shed on a dock at end of Cordova harbor. Since that day, the Science Center has remained focused on ecosystem research and science education that matters. Understanding our home is important to the residents of Prince William Sound, as well as all Alaskans, and what happens locally is relevant globally.
After 32 years and over $120 million in impact, we are preparing to break ground on our new facility overlooking Orca Inlet.
We want to thank all our community members, donors, funders, volunteers, staff, and board members over the last three decades for your support of our quest to understand and support this globally relevant region for the benefit of local people and the world. Your support helps ensure that the promise of today remains the promise of tomorrow.
