Angela Korabik is a kelp ecologist currently working on research to better support Alaska’s mariculture industry. Korabik completed her Ph.D. in Ecology at the University of California, Davis on the impacts of climate change on kelp gametophyte dynamics in Northern California. Prior to joining PWSSC, Angela was previously employed as an Alaska Sea Grant State Fellow with Dr. Alix Laferriere at the NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center Kodiak Lab, where her research focused on Alaskan bull kelp seasonality and the ecosystem impacts and habitat provisioning of kelp and oyster farms.

Angela joined the Prince William Sound Science Center in April of 2025 as a Mariculture Postdoc and is currently focused on data synthesis for the EVOST-MarRecon Project and modelling the carrying capacity of mariculture farms in Prince William Sound. In addition, she also conducts experiments aimed at better understanding what factors influence kelp growth in the hatchery and on farms. Angel is also the coordinator of the Bull Kelp Research Squad (BKRS), an interdisciplinary group of farmers and scientists in Alaska focused on how bull kelp grows and how we can better cultivate it.
