Krimson holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and a GIS Analyst Certificate from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. She has most recently worked as a Physical Scientist at the USGS Upper Midwest Water Science Center, where she aided in research focused on river and coastal processes, including water quality, algal blooms, and sediment fingerprinting. Additionally, Krimson has a diverse background in ecological research and data collection in both Utah and British Columbia, Canada. In her free time, she enjoys anything that gets her outdoors - hiking, rock climbing, skiing, fishing, you name it! When not outdoors, she’s often found practicing yoga or a playing a game of chess with a good cup of coffee.

This summer, Krimson will participate as a fisheries and oceanography field and lab technician under Dr. Pete Rand, assisting him on two salmon research projects. One study involves purse seine and trawl surveys in Prince William Sound to collect juvenile pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha), herring, zooplankton, and record site characteristics. In the lab, she will process fish samples for calorimetry and use microscopy to identify and count zooplankton. For the second project, she will visit several field sites to help maintain and download data from tracking stations throughout the Copper River as part of a telemetry study on sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka).
