COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Chronolog Timelapse Series

When visiting or recreating around Cordova, it's extremely common to be in awe of the beautiful views around every corner. Even those of us who live here are still enamored with the untouched and picturesque landscapes by which we are surrounded. With all that beauty, people are bound to be taking photos - so why not put some of those photos to good use?

Chronolog, a new community/citizen science project, helps organizations like ours crowd-source photos to create timelapse videos like the ones below. These videos, with help from you, create new phenological records and identify shifts in seasonal patterns during this period of rapidly changing environmental conditions. So next time you are visiting Sheridan Glacier or the Haystack Trail overlook - pop your phone in the bracket, snap a photo, then email the photo to the address on the sign. You will receive the up-to-date timelapse and the satisfaction of participating in environmental monitoring!

Aren't currently in Cordova? Learn more about PWSSC's Chronolog stations or visit the Chronolog website to find a station near you!

We are excited to work with two of our local partners on these timeseries installations, The Eyak Corporation and the United States Forest Service - Cordova Ranger District.
