New Education Coordinator Arrives in Cordova
We are please to announce that Lauren Bien joined our staff in August 2015.
She has a bachelor’s degree in marine biology from Wittenberg University in Ohio and is finishing her master’s work in marine sciences from the University of New England in Maine. Her thesis work involves particle modeling to predict the accumulation and concentration of marine debris in the Gulf of Maine and in situ sample collection to sort and categorize marine debris in the surface waters.
Lauren is a passionate science educator with experience teaching pre-K through college, both in formal and informal settings, in Georgia and Maine. Lauren is excited to join the education team and eager to get students and the community involved in scientific, place-based activities.
