SUMMER PROGRAMS
Discover Cordova
Throughout spring and summer each year, our six Discover Cordova “mini-explorations” reach more than 75 children and adults of all ages. From tidepooling to bug tracking to native plant identification, these programs engage our entire community and encourage hands-on exploration of different local organisms and ecosystems.
Bring your magnifying glasses and meet us on the Ski Hill for a Bug Safari, don your rubber boots to tide pool with us at Orca beach, or become an artist while sketching plants on a wildflower walk. Discover Cordova programs typically last between two and four hours. All ages are welcome and care-givers must attend with young children. Keep an eye out for flyers, emails, and other advertising for our next event!
Discover Cordova in Action

Education Director, Lauren Bien, teaches kids about pollinators and how they help spread pollen from flower to flower.

Education Summer Intern, Lori Galluppo, and kids inspect the unique array of flowers that can be found in the muskegs up at the local ski hill.

In this Discover Cordova session, we learned hands-on about how barnacles stick to rocks, how sea stars and sea urchins move, why hermit crabs like to hide under rocks, and so much more!
